Hit-and-run accident results in one injured

New York drivers may be interested to hear that a New Jersey man was taken into police custody after he allegedly drove down a one-way street before causing an accident and leaving the scene. According to the report, the 39-year-old man drove down the street in the wrong direction and collided with a Honda driven by a 27-year-old female driver. The man allegedly drove further down the road and struck three parked vehicles before turning onto another street, where he hit a fourth car. The vehicle came to a stop and the man allegedly abandoned his vehicle.

The female driver was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries following the accident. She was treated and released.

The male driver was charged with a number of offenses. These included three counts of reckless endangerment, one count of leaving the scene of an accident in which a personal injury was sustained, one count of reckless driving and one count of fleeing an officer. In addition, the driver was also cited for driving without a license, failing to obey a traffic device and two violations of driving the wrong way on a one-way road.

In this case, it was incredibly lucky that only one individual was injured and that those injuries were very minor. Those who are involved in car accidents often face severe injuries that may result in paralysis, limb amputations, head and neck trauma and brain injuries. Regardless of the severity of the injuries that were sustained, those who were injured may be eligible to seek compensation to help cover damages that were caused by the accident, including medical expenses, pain and suffering and property damages. A New York attorney may be able to help their client by building a case based on the available evidence.
