Another Pedestrian Killed by School Bus on the Upper East Side

A bus carrying several children home from their Catholic school fatally struck a woman crossing an Upper East Side street on Thursday, authorities said.

The victim, believed to be in her 40s, was crossing East 93rd Street at Second Avenue around 3:30 p.m., when she was hit by the bus, which was headed west, cops said. The bus was carrying six children, ages five to 11, home from St. Stephen's of Hungary School on East 82nd Street.

Business owners said the intersection is accident prone and is particularly dangerous because of Second Avenue subway construction.

"There are many accidents since construction," said Tae Shin, who owns a nail salon on Second. "You cannot see from either side of the fence because of the [tarps on the fence]. There is terrible visibility."

The attorneys of Morgan Levine Dolan are currently representing several families of pedestrians struck and killed on New York City streets.  We file claims against the City of New York for improper highway design, causing dangerous intersections and hazardous roadways.  We recently received a settlement of $770,000 for a woman struck and killed by a taxi driver.
