Where Are The Most Pedestrian Accidents In NYC?

A collection of open city data on pedestrian car collisions from 2011 through 2015 revealed the most dangerous places to walk in New York City. The data confirmed that areas with reduced speed limits have fewer collisions, Fast Company reported.

A personal injury law firm used city pedestrian data to map out accidents in the five boroughs. From the data, the firm also looked at the speed limit zone, the gender and age of people involved, and factors involved in the incident.

You can view the map here.

There were more factors revealed from the collected data:

  • The most dangerous time to walk: The evening rush hour
  • Borough with the most pedestrian accidents: Brooklyn
  • Most dangerous intersections in 2014: East 125th Street and Lexington Avenue, West 42nd Street and 8th Avenue (11 collisions each)
  • Most commonly cited reasons for collisions: Failure to yield right-of-way, driver inattention/distraction

The attorneys at Morgan Levine Dolan have recovered millions of dollars for those who have been injured or lost their lives in a pedestrian accident, or any type of incident involving motor vehicles.
