Multicar Crash In Upper Manhattan Leaves 1 Man Dead, 7 Injured

A four-car crash left one man dead and several other people injured on Sunday morning in the Marble Hill section of Manhattan, according to reports.

The driver of a 2015 Volkswagen sedan, William Hay, 54, of the Bronx, tried to squeeze between two cars, a Chrysler sedan Nissan sedan stopped at a red light, at the intersection of Marble Hill Avenue and West 228th Street.

The Volkswagen smashed into the Chrysler, which in turn, pinballed into the Nissan Maxima. The collision forced both stopped cars across the intersection and into an oncoming Ford Taurus.

The Nissan's driver, who only gave his name as Rene, his wife and his 12-year-old son were among those involved in the accident. All three were able to walk away from the wreck, the New York Daily News reported.

In total, seven people were treated for minor injuries, including a passenger from the Volkswagen and six from the other cars, according to authorities.

Hay, the Volkswagen's driver, was rushed to a local hospital, but he could not be saved. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. Police believe he was speeding, according to reports.
