Two People Killed In LIE Crash Near Old Westbury [Update]

Two people were killed and several others were injured in a crash involving several vehicles on the Long Island Expressway in Old Westbury.

According to police, the incident started when a BMW experiencing trouble was parked in the westbound HOV lane between exit 40 and 39 on the LIE around 11 p.m. on Monday. A 20-year-old male driver and his 18-year-old female passenger got out of the BMW to inspect what was wrong when the car was hit from behind by a 2016 GMC Yukon.

The collision sent the pair flying over a barrier and onto the eastbound lanes, officials said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was rushed to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

There were two other passengers inside the BMW. An 18-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man were treated for injuries at a local hospital. The driver of the GMC suffered minor injuries as well.

Officials have identified the driver of the GMC as Edward Rosovich, 33, an off-duty highway police officer. The identity of the victims have not been released yet.

The investigation is ongoing.

For grieving families, it's important that a full investigation be conducted. For that, a wise first step is to discuss the matter with a legal professional experienced in car accidents.
