Window Washers Rescued After Being Stranded On Scaffolding

Two window washers were rescued after their scaffolding malfunctioned and stranded them on the 17th story of a building in downtown Manhattan, sources said. The incident happened at 33 Maiden Lane around 9:50 a.m., officials said.

The pair of men were cleaning the outside windows of the building when one of the lines holding the scaffolding in place loosened, causing it to tilt to one side.

Firefighters went to the 17th Floor and pulled the men into the building through a window and secured the lift.

The men were not apparently harmed, but they were taken to New York Presbyterian Downtown Hospital to be evaluated, officials said.
