Drunk Driver Injures Six In Staten Island Crash

Norman Williams, 35, was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated, endangering the welfare of a child and three counts of vehicular assault in a car crash that injured six people, according to reports.

Williams was speeding on Fingerboard Road when he crashed into a utility pole, officials said. There were five passengers in his car, including a 33-year-old woman, a nine-year-old boy and three girls, ages 11, 3, and 11 months.

The driver and five passengers were taken to Staten Island University Hospital, Ocean Breeze. Two of the children were treated for serious injuries, one with a hip fracture and a laceration to the groin area and another with an orbital bone fracture and two hip fractures, officials said. They are in stable condition.

Three hours after the incident, Williams was tested for his blood-alcohol content. The test revealed that his blood-alcohol levels surpassed the legal threshold.
