Six Killed In Multi-Vehicle Crash In LIE

Six people were killed in a multi-vehicle crash on the Long Island Expressway, police said. One of the victims was a former aide of New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, Scott Martella, 29.

An out-of-control Subaru Outback crossed a median and struck Martella's Honda and a BMW, officials said. The Outback event went airborne, police said.

The Outback's driver, Carmelo Pinales, 26, of Hicksville and his sister, Patricia Pinales, 27, of Westbury, were pronounced dead at the scene, officials said. Martella was also pronounced dead at the scene.

Pinales' 10-year-old son, Christopher, was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical condition but was later pronounced dead. His aunt, who was also a passenger in the vehicle, survived the crash, officials said.

The BMW's driver and three of his passengers, all from Westhampton, were transported to local hospitals. Isadore Adelson, 81, was later pronounced dead. The driver's wife, Helen, 71, was pronounced dead at Stony Brook University Hospital.

For grieving families, it's important that a full investigation be conducted. For that, a wise first step is to discuss the matter with a legal professional experienced in car accidents.
