Three People Injured After Teen Causes Union Square Crash

Three people were hurt after a 16-year old boy driving without a license and his passenger collided into several vehicles in Union Square, officials said. One officer suffered a sprained ankle from the incident, according to reports.

The teen driver, whose name has not been released, and his passenger, Jumain Wilson, 34, both of Brooklyn, ran a red light and slammed into two cars, a cyclist and a marked police van, officials said.

When the car stopped, Wilson, who had a suspended license, tried to get into the driver's seat and drive away, but only caused more damage to his vehicle. He and the teen tried to run by foot in opposite directions, but both were caught and arrested.

Wilson was given with an unlicensed driving charge and the teen was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and failure to obey a traffic signal, officials said.
