NY Waterway Ferry Injures Five Kayakers After Collision

Five kayakers were injured after after a ferry struck them on the Hudson River, officials said.

The kayakers, led by a Manhattan Kayak staffer, were traveling in a group of 11 when a NY Waterway ferry pulled out of Pier 79 near 12th Avenue and 39th Street and struck the group. The ferry's captain told police that he could not see the kayakers because the glare from the sun blinded him.

Three people were taken to Bellevue Hospital while the other two were taken to St. Luke's Hospital, officials said. Two of the injured were in critical but stable condition, including one worker at Manhattan Kayak.

No immediate charges or arrests have been made. Officials are still investigating.
