Three People Killed, 11 Injured In LIE Crash

Three people were killed and at least 11 others were injured after a multi-vehicle crash on the Long Island Expressway, officials said. Six vehicles were involved in a chain-reaction car crash in Maspeth, Queens.

Driver Michael Fabre, 25, of Queens, was driving with his passengers, Giovanny Sanchez, 24, of Brentwood, L.I. and Christina Formato, 24, of Franklin Square in a black Infiniti sedan when the car struck a divider, tore in half and fell onto a ramp below, according to reports. Fabre and his passengers were pronounced dead at the scene. Fabre and Sanchez were in the Army National Guards.

After the initial accident, a 27-year-old driver in an Acura TL struck the front half of the Infiniti. Police believe the Infiniti and Acura were involved in a speed race.

The accident caused a chain-reaction wreck when a dump truck struck three cars that were waiting behind the accident.

Six people suffered non-life threatening injuries, according to the New York Daily News. They were transported to Elmhurst and Queens Hospital Center, officials said.

For grieving families, it's important that a full investigation be conducted. For that, a wise first step is to discuss the matter with a legal professional experienced in car accidents.
